National Treasure Review

I saw the movie "National Treasure - Book of Secrets" today. Nice movie...I have always been fascinated with the idea and the thrill of a treasure hunt. As a child I used to have these detailed, colorful, and thrilling dreams of adventures like treasure hunt or catching some dacoit....I saw such dreams quite often but as I grew up, I stopped having those dreams and now sometimes in a blue moon, I see such a exciting dream.

Anyway, coming back to the movie....I was sad to see the old balding Nicholas Cage. He has been one of the actors I liked. Especially his eyes. He surely has some Scorpio effect. I was also sad to see what i suspect a slight double chin. Sigh!!! One cant fight the aging process..its the inevitable way of life cycle.
Overall I liked the movie.
Till now I'm enjoying a nice quiet Sunday.

Celebration!

Dad, Mom and I celebrated Mom's birthday today. Dad bought a fruitcake and Mom cut while we clapped. Then we feasted on chicken and paneer. Dad gave Mom a short and sweet birthday card meant for wife. And Mom gave him a thank you kiss on the cheek!!! So sweet and loving....I'm still thinking of what to give as gift to Mom....Missed Didi and Jiju on the occasion. Nothing much happened to ponder upon....

Spoilt Indian Men

I had a lunch invitation at a colleague's place....non-veg lunch so only the colleagues who either eat non-veg or have no problem sitting with us had come....There was chicken and pulao on menu....Simple lunch....What struck me odd was that a colleague after he had finished eating, didn't pick up chicken leftovers from his plate and put in a bowl to make it easy to throw it in dustbin...Keeping the plate in the washing place is simply out of question....He comes from a typical orthodox Bihari family where the males are demi-gods and are not supposed to have manners or etiquette or do anything remotely related to housework. The women are supposed to wash their clothes, clean their leftovers, look after their children while they go out and earn bread. And he tells this proudly too!!! But the point is we maybe spolit kids of our homes but when we go to someone else's place , we should try and make the best impression.

Golden Compass Review

Long posts are really not my cup of tea.....I've decided to go for short and daily posts also....

I went to see The Golden Compass today.....Most people in my close peer circle are not into fantasy or animation movies.....infact except only one friend (who saw voluntarily), none have seen Harry Potter movies!!!To miss out on such a landmark in movie-making,is pure stupidity especially due to reasons like "Those are just kids' movies"...... Anyway I'm a big fan of animation,fantasy,magic,fairytales.....anything that stimulates my imagination...might be the outcome of being a Gemini.... like Carl Sagan puts it "Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere"

The movie was a bit slow and I was quite disappointed to find out its a "to be continued" movie....But the graphics and special effects were wonderful. Overall I'd a nice evening.
