Blogging Truth & C.W.S

After having experienced some weekends since I started blogging actively, I reached to this conclusion. I'm suffering from C.W.S - Comment Withdrawal Syndrome. Its typical symptoms are looking blankly at mail inbox [gmail in my case], refreshing it in the hope a new comment has come but gmail hasn't recorded it yet, refreshing blog page to see any new viewers in FEEDJIT and checking the FeedReader even when its tray icon hasn't gone orange to show new feeds..Meanwhile I get around accomplishing some of the resolutions posted earlier here. I do active commenting in the blogs I'd bookmarked to read later [Ishmeet must be feeling deluged right now]

I guess all experienced bloggers already know this...I'm posting this just for killing time and helping some newbies. This is the blogging truth my dears.

My blog readers & commenters seem to have a social life on weekends. On other hand there is me..whose circle of friends got separated after college, has now colleagues as friends, who lives in a small town which has only 2 or 3 hangout places and who even if hangs out there encounters many of her students & it becomes awkward. Sad state of affairs! Here is another flow diagram about my blogging process.

This the reason why the bar doesn't reach 100% in the bar graph. But as rightly said in Bhagavad Gita;

Meaning : Your freedom is only in the field of action, and not in the field of bringing about the fruits of action. Never take yourself as the cause of bringing about a karma-phala (situation), and never resort to a life of inaction.

P.S. I made these diagrams on Smart Draw. Its a wonderful software with all sorts of templates ranging from engineering diagrams to organizational charts.

Reema: You need to get out more :-)

Reema said...

@Shefaly :) Thats what..no place to get out to and no one to go out with! dont worry this situation is only on Sundays. I'm busy even on Saturdays as my job is like that.

We use smartdraw at work, I do installations for the people they seem to like it...

Maybe more hobbies for those lonely sundays? Personally I have enough time to do anything.

Have a great day!

hey..i am too getting the same disease..these are the signs of blog addiction :) ..dont worry it happens with every active blogger..ur analysis is cool, i should give it a try too!

@Canopenner Hey blogging is a hobby and problem is when I'm free rest of world is not online. Hey I cant see comments section in ur blog..what happened?

@Swathi Same Pinch!!

@ Reema: I think there may be some influence of the novelty factor in there too. You will get over it, I know. :-)

My Sundays are busier than my Saturday and I schedule all my 'culture' stuff for the weekdays as you will see on my blog from the occasional reviews etc.

Ah, I've been through all of that refreshing every minute hoping for a new comment or a new opportunity to post a comment somewhere! But that changes once you get used to the entire thing. I refresh less frequently now.

The trends you got are pretty similar to mine. When you've completed a few years of blogging, you'll see that the months from September onwards happen to be more popular with bloggers and by the time Decembers ends, most of them are completely out of inspiration.

I like your charts btw, very technical. Very you, if I can say that. And yep, with all those comments, you're surely making me feel the heat. :P

you're not a teacher, you're a lecturer! haha, with all that graph and charts. :P at least you made your 'moan' about blogging in an entertaining way! my readers are fed up when i complain about blogging block haha.

reema, the third party site I am using for comments seems to be having some issues this weekend.

Its enough to make me move to blogger commenting.

If they dont have their stuff working correctly by the end of the week I might. But historically their problems are usually short lived.

Its a free service they provide and they are hosting 500,000 peoples comments so I try and cut them some slack when this happens...

What about hanging out with your students on weekends? It's not that bad, and you dont need to necessarily lower your guard while you are with them..if you know what I mean..
You will also relive your college life with them & see different perspectives on things through their younger and, possibly, more brighter eyes ....I do that all the time..infact I have buddies who are as young as 19 and as old as 77!
At the end of the day, no matter how cool and personal virtual world may become for you, it still stays virtual and with many limitations....
So, enjoy your blogging but dont become so addicted to it that you try to substitute your real social life with it..

Reema,
Same thing happens with me. But I am used to these experiences now. Actually now I post only when I get enough time.
And you social life is not much different than mine, but still I find ways to spend my weekend and I strictly avoid internet on weekends.
Don't look at the charts, they make you feel lonely on weekends :D
Cheers
Suda

My weekends are sometimes a bore too. The truth is I don't have Internet access and I am yet to find a cafe open on Sundays that doesn't charge noevelty prices.

I sometimes hang out with my students or I meet with some other teacher to get ideas about things.

How long have you been teaching?

Reema said...

@Beth Ohh too bad. I've been teaching since 3.5 years.
